kanpur: for mohd nasser, a blind compu-freak, saturday january 12, 2002 could be a red letter day. he will be appearing for microsoft's online certificate examinations and in the process will attempt to enter the guinness book of records. the 30-year-old, resident of jajmau here, has been preparing for the microsoft certified database administrator (mcdba), microsoft certified software developer (mcsd) and microsoft certified software engineer (mcse) exams with a lot of determination.
personally, he is confident of doing well in all the exams. and watching him from the sidelines will be a senior representative of microsoft from delhi. nasser is not keyed up, but is looking forward to making history of sorts. the man from the software company is equally keen to know how he would answer the questions. that is why he will be here. outstation television crews will also be present to 'grab' the feat. two institutions, silvan promatic center and virtual university of enterprises authorised by microsoft limited will conduct the examinations. these organisations are actually sending the representative. well, how does he do it? nasser said he had set up a unique software in his computer called 'jaws for windows' which converts the digital language of computers into sound bytes which helps me. he is well-versed with all the programming. the interesting part is that it has taken him only about one year to learn the languages. elaborating about the exams, nasser said there were about four question papers in mcdba, another four in mcsd and seven in mcse. during the examinations a non-computer professional appointed by the "view online" of sydney, would read out his question paper and he has to answer them.
